INDOOR NETS POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
1. Background
On 31 May 2021, the Board of the Cornwall Cricket Club decided to increase security of the covered net facility, implement the booking system ‘bookanet’ and begin charging a fee for private usage of the indoor facility.
This decision was made for the following reasons:
- An online booking system creates a fair, fully transparent and widely accessible booking system for our entire membership.
- Between 2018 and 2021, the club covered $37,360 in maintenance costs for the facility. Rather than continually increasing membership fees to cover these costs, the Board decided it is fairer to make the facility ‘user pays’ for those booking private sessions. As a result, the small percentage of the club that use the nets for private bookings will be contribute towards its upkeep.
- It was a security and health and safety issue when the club was not aware of who is using our nets. Particularly in weekends when the facility is busy with no club staff on site.
- It was common for individuals to book long periods of time and/or multiple lanes but not show up in their booked slot, taking away usage opportunities for other members. Implementing a charge would minimise this risk.
- The nets were easily accessible and heavily used by non-members.
- There are two outdoor lanes which can still be used free of charge should individuals choose to.
- Some private coaches were not contributing fairly for utilising the indoor nets for their business activity.
2. Booking Process
- The club requires all bookings to be made online at this link: https://cornwallcricket.bookanet.co.nz/
- Payment is required at the time of booking to confirm your time.
- A code will be emailed and/or text to the hirer. This code will provide access to the facility for the duration of the booking.
3. Club Organised Activity
Club organised activity refers to an activity organised and communicated by the club.
The net hirage for club organised activities are considered included within a members membership fee or through the fee for a specific programme. These sessions include, but are not limited to:
- Regular season team training sessions
- Team trials
- Team pre-season trainings
- Crowe Academy sessions
- Junior coaching clinics
- Central District operations
- Saturday ‘senior pre-game hit outs’
- The Summer Bash
- Winter Programmes
Should an individual wish to utilise the facility outside of a time provided by the club (i.e., a club organised activity) the session will be considered private and a charge will apply for the session.
Pre-season set start dates.
Pre-season will begin at the below point for each grade:
- Premier Men: At the discretion of the Premier Squad Coach/es.
- Premier Women: At the discretion of the Premier Squad Coach/es.
- Grade Cricket: Four weeks before the first game.
- One Day Grades: Four weeks before the first game.
- Youth Grades: Four weeks before the first game.
- Junior Grades: Two weeks before the first game.
The exact dates and times which teams have access to training facilities for pre-season and regular season training will be communicated by the club.
4. Cancellations & Refunds
- If you cancel an existing booking more than 48 hours prior to the scheduled booking time you are entitled to a full refund. Refunds will not be available if you are unable to use the booking and cancellation has not been advised by email 48 hours before the booking time. Email bookings@cornwallcricket.co.nz should you need to cancel or for more information.
- Every effort will be made by the club to ensure there are no double bookings between private sessions and club organised sessions and/or maintenance.
